IT'S ALIVE!

The Scarsdale High School's Drama Club will be performing Young Frankenstein written by Mel Brooks this month. The story follows Frederick Frankenstein as obtains his family's estate in Transylvania. With the help of a hunchbacked side-kick, Igor, and a leggy assistant, Inga , Frederick finds himself in the mad scientist shoes of his ancestors. Fredrickbrings to life a creature to rival his grandfather's. The monster escapes and hilarity continuously abounds.
This play is full or humor and music which will keep the audience laughing the entire time. The show will be performed at the high school on November 20 & 21 at 7:30 and November 22 at 2:00. Tickets for the show will be available at SHSDCYoungFrankenstein.eventbrite.com and at the door. With any questions, please contact s.h.s.dramaclubofficers@gmail.com

How many times have we heard from adults that they wish their parents didn’t allow them to quit their musical instrument when they were younger?

WELCOME to the Friends of Music & the Arts in the Scarsdale Schools website!

And welcome to a new school year.  We’re excited to see what 2015-16 brings, and are already looking forward to the musical and theatrical performances and art shows ahead.

THANK YOU to all who supported FMA last year.  Your memberships, gifts and purchases at our December holiday boutique and spring Open Studio hosted by artist Miriam Schulman enabled us to:

  • Recognize the musical and artistic talents of 91 high school students with FMA certificates, awards and scholarships
  • Provide refreshments at high school concerts throughout the year;
  • Honor the arts faculty throughout the district with a luncheon at Wayside Cottage in May;
  • Make gifts in support of the arts to each school in the district, as requested by the arts faculty and approved by the principal of each school.  A summary of these gifts is below.

PLEASE won’t you renew your support for the coming year, so that we can continue to show our students and faculty that Scarsdale parents appreciate their achievements in and contributions to the arts?  It’s easy to join online through the links on this website, or you can click HERE to print out a membership form and mail it plus your check to FMA, P.O. Box 171H, Scarsdale, NY 10583.

And, IF YOU’D LIKE TO GET INVOLVED in our activities,
please contact me at kgrayclapp@aol.com.  We’d love to have more parents join our team.
