Come enjoy a charming musical theatre classic! Bye Bye Birdie is one of the most captivating and funniest Tony award winning musicals of our time. An uproarious, laugh-a-minute show, with a cast of lovable characters you won’t soon forget. So, don’t miss seeing the MacAfee family and the residents of Sweet Apple, Ohio, go topsy-turvy when the hip swinging, teen idol Conrad Birdie comes to town to serenade one lucky fan before he enters the Army. Congratulations Cailey Martin, a 2014 All-National Honor Mixed Choir Member!

SHS student Cailey Martin was selected for the 2014 All National Honor Mixed Choir which perform in Nashville, Tennessee (26-29 October), as well as have an amazing opportunity to work with some of the most renowned conductors in the United States.
Congratulations Nick Politi, NAfME 2014 Student Composers Competition winner!
SHS 10th grader Nick Politi won a young composer award in the National Association for Music Education 2014 Student Composers Competition.
Nick will perform his composition Thoughts on a Rhapsody, on October 27, 2014 at the Young Composers Concert during the NAfME National In-Service Conference in Nashville, Tennessee

$18.1 million bond referendum - Tour the SMS Wed Oct. 22, at 7:15 pm

The Scarsdale Board of Education has agreed to put an $18.1 million bond referendum
for facilities improvements to a vote on December 11, 2014. Among the many improvements
included are changes at the middle school that would add much needed space for the music program:
a new orchestra room and a renovated Exploring Music classroom. There is an opportunity to tour
the areas of the middle school where these changes will be made next Wednesday, Oct. 22, at 7:15 pm,
prior to the PTA meeting scheduled to start at 7:30 pm.
Especially for those with children in elementary and/or middle school, don't miss this opportunity to see exactly

Welcome to the new Friends of Music & the Arts website!
SHS: a video monitor with wall mount for displaying student artwork; shelving and other organizational supplies for the drama department's prop room; and a special clip for use by the music department during outdoor performances.
SMS: a new viola outfit, new bows and other strings supplies for the orchestra; an iPad to aid the art department in doing image research.
Edgewood: a heavy-duty paper cutter for the art room.
Fox Meadow: a digital camera and accessories for documenting student artwork.
Greenacres: a workstation for the art room; a bell kit and sheet music for the music department.
Heathcote: two portable lightboxes for the art room.
Quaker Ridge: artists' manikins for the art room; bow grips and percussion instruments for the music department.
In addition to these gifts, FMA acknowledged high school student achievements in the arts with certificates and awards; we provided hospitality at a number of concerts and other arts events throughout the district; and we honored our wonderful district arts faculty with a luncheon in May.
